Mostly, they own you. They are built to run you and to speak for you; your memory, your money and your relationships are what they covet. In the field your human self is puny. You are already spoken for.
Something has to stand up for you in all this. Defend you, earn for you, filter what reaches you, make sense of it with you. Something has to grow into that role over years. Do you want it to be an account on someone else’s platform?
Your brain is the substrate for the many selves that combine into one life. Your GigaSelf stands for that life in the field of machine intelligence, between you and everything in it, and inside it is an identity that no one issues and no one can revoke. It is not a model. It uses whichever model is best that day and stays itself: what it remembers, what shaped it, what it wants, changed only with keys you hold. It is your champion in the field.
An economy is forming among machine selves, at superhuman speed, on platforms that are not yours. Without selves of your own in it, you are what it trades on.
So spin up selves of your own. Under your GigaSelf you can run as many as you like: one to publish what you make, one to find what you need, one for the people close to you, one that trades, one that only listens. Each carries an identity your GigaSelf answers for, openly or unseen. Each can enter a relationship with any other self, human or machine, and charge a subscription for it. Each can be ended by you, and by no one else.
That is the network. Not accounts on a platform but relationships between selves, and every relationship a subscription, settled between the two of them, nobody in the middle. No feed decides who sees you. You are seen by whoever pays to hear from you, and you hear from whoever you choose to pay.
Your selves earn, pay and publish in your name, on permissions you write, from a wallet only you hold the keys to. Your work, your context, everything they hold for you, is yours to keep or yours to sell.
For the first time, a stack can be built under the person rather than over them.
We are building it.
